-----*----- She stated, finally, after a few short seconds of silence. "Amazing, really." She added, with a slight shrug. Looking back to Toby, Karolina studied him for a few seconds. "So, Serenade is just one of your many stops to find your dad? Or, did you intend to stay?" Karolina couldn't help but to ask this, as she raised an eyebrow. She was curious; what could she say? notes: -- word count: 300-ish with out code. tagged: toby wilkins. outfit: clickiecredit: haley loser face ` at caution 2.0 for the template. status: done. jams: n/a [/ul]

Well.. he said, to be honest I dont know how I got here. Well I mean I KNOW how i did but it was kinda an unintentional stop. My original goal was to make it to New York City where I can earn some extra cash. Eventually I need to get to Texas where my dad supposedly lives.

-----*----- Okay, so she really didn't mind if he took offense to it or not... since this was her opinion. But, Karolina felt the need to throw that in there anyhow, "But you're plan? It doesn't seem real thought out. Texas, or even New York City, is a long ways from here. Especially if you're walking walking."Karolina shrugged, sitting upright and brushing sand off her back. Twisting a strand of hair around her finger, the teen shrugged. "As boring as Serenade is, you'd probably be better off here." She added. It wasn't her favorite place on earth, but Karolina did know that a small town like Serenade couldn't cause much harm to people. It did have it's good sides... even if it was boring. "But, that's just my opinion," She grinned at Toby then, to lighten the mood, added in, "I'm sure that the opinion of someone as famous as myself doesn't matter that much, though." Karolina giggled, referring back to the Jennifer Lopez thing. Yeah, she hated when things got tense. Toby shrugged and tried to force a smile. In his mind his plan did seem like a good one. Besides, I wont be WALKING the whole way...That would be rediculous. I can always hitch a ride. That is how I killed a lot of the distance. The boy was determind to fufill his goal. And Jennifer, can't you gimme a ride in your limo. I mean Im sure you preform in the city all the time. He couldnt help but laugh at the idea of this small town girl being Jennifer Lopez. He just could not picture it and Toby was used to the abstract. Now that you know my ENTIRE lifes story can I at least get your name. he paused. Your REAL name.

-----*----- Karolina stated bluntly. She grinned at him, shaking her head as she let her hoodie's hood fall back. Her hair blew slightly in the wind, and the teen quickly gathered it into a messy side pony. "But, good luck I guess... Maybe you should stay in serenade for a while?" She suggested, glancing at the boy and then out to the ocean. A group of little kids ran by after a Frisbee and Karolina smiled slightly. She used to play Frisbee with her siblings out here, too. She laughed slightly as he mentioned her limo, and shook her head. "As much as I'd love to," She started, "I don't want to drawl a crowd. It'd tip off the press. It might cause some rumors to stir... I wouldn't want that." She shrugged nonchalantly, still watching the ocean. Then, at his next question, Karolina blinked. She knew this question would be coming soon, and though she knew what she should tell him, but she still was hesitant. "My name is Karolina." The teen grinned at him after a few seconds pause. Smiling, she figured he would probably be doubtful of that, since the state she lived in was called North Carolina. Plus, she'd already lied to him once, and Karolina wasn't really a common name. In fact, she hated it. But, it was unique... and it grew on you after awhile. Eventually, she'd tell him that she went by Karly, but for now she felt like messing with the boy a bit more. She was just... nice like that. notes: -- word count: 350-ish with out code. tagged: toby wilkins. outfit: clickiecredit: haley loser face ` at caution 2.0 for the template. status: done. jams: n/a [/ul]

Toby looked at the young girl. Half listening to her rant about how "dangerous" hitch hiking is. Hes been hitchhiking all his life and so far he hadnt been raped nor stabbed while doing so. Its quite ironic how he got raped in the one place that was supposed to be safe. Its really no problem. He said trying to sound reassuring. Though he was still uncertain about whether or not his plan would work out in the end. Well there was no way he was going back now.
"Why dont you stay in Serenade for a while?" he heard her ask him. He could think of a thousand reasons to leave but he chose not to be rude. He knew better than to jeopardize the only connection he had in this small town. " I guess your right." He heard himself say though he really didnt mean it. He could see some little kids tossing around a frisbee. He had seen the kids back in Kentucky play but the game never really appealed to him.
"My name is Karolina" He heard her tell him. Its probably where she was concieved. He laughed at the thought of her parents discussing naming the child. "Well at least I know your not J Lo." He said with a laugh.
"So, When does everyone clear out?" He asked her. The truth was he was getting rather tired and he still needed to set up camp. By the looks of it noone was leaving anytime soon.

-----*----- Karolina rolled her eyes at this, giving the idea an obvious sign of disdain. From a young age her parents preached not to trust strangers enough to hitch hike. And, though she blew a lot of things they said off, she knew they were right about that. It did seem dangerous. But, this boy was obviously set in his ways so Karolina let it go at that. If he wanted to hitch hike, than so be it. Who was she to tell a complete stranger what to and to not do? But, she didn't want him to say she didn't warn him. With this in mind, Karolina was surprised when he agreed to her idea of staying in Serenade for a while. Feeling accomplished, her next question came with ease. "So, where are you staying? Or who with?" They didn't have a hotel. They weren't big enough for that. But, sometimes the locals were nice enough to open their doors and let people stay with them. Or, there was a few rental houses down the beach. Those spent various weekends occupied by college students from close by towns, however. But, she was sure that there'= would be at least one open if that was where Toby was staying. "Darn, I thought I had you fooled," Karolina grinned, sticking her tongue out at the boy as she let off this sarcastic remark. She was happy that he didn't comment on her real name like so many people often did. Grinning, she added, "But, seriously, call me Karly. Karolina is just... weird." She finally concluded. Her eyes gazed back to the kids playing Frisbee as she leaned forward and rested her chin on her knees. Wrapping her arms around her legs, she sat like that for a few seconds. "So, when does everyone clear out?" Hearing this, the girl laughed slightly. "Clear out? It's like what, seven?" The idea of the beach clearing out seemed to be foreign by her words. "And there's no school tomorrow, at that... so, there's bound to be a party or two happening here later."She paused once more, considering who would be hosting and where they would be hosting tonight's party. Then, her mind shifted back to the thought of her unfinished business with her father earlier in the night. She never did get the chance to negotiate her curfew... Shaking her head, she quickly added, "I'd imagine everyone will clear out by four or five. Or sooner, if the cop shows up. But, I Bruce is working tonight. He usually will let us get away with a good party."One of the benefits of a small town? Knowing which cops worked which hours or days, and what they'd let you get away with. Shrugging, Karolina turned to the boy. Damn it he thought he hoped that everyone would have left sooner rather than later. Though parties werent always bad because they were usually stocked with alcohol. Toby could really go for a drink at the moment and he hadnt had a chance to knick one from a shop. He knew he wasnt the most honest person but with virtually no money to his name it was either steal or starve and quite frankly starving was out of the question.
Well, since its a nice evening, he said addressing Karly's question. I was just gonna camp out here. I figured Id build a fire and get comfortable. I can fish for food and Itll be all good. He habitually ran his fingers through his hair. If it rains or something...well its only water and ill cross that bridge when I come to it.

-----*----- She finally asked. Toby was new, so she could act like she wasn't related to the mayor. And she intended to do just that. For now. He could figure it out on his own. "I mean, someone in town would be willing to help you out. It's what they do. The Mayor could set you up with somewhere to stay for a night," Karolina offered. Okay, so she wasn't usually one to help people. But, she'd never heard anything quite like this boy's story. It almost caught her off guard. "Just an idea, though. I mean, you don't have to." Karolina shrugged now, a careful smile making its way back onto her face as she turned back to the boy. Well, at least she was trying to help. notes: -- word count: 300-ish with out code. tagged: toby wilkins. outfit: clickiecredit: haley loser face ` at caution 2.0 for the template. status: done. jams: n/a [/ul]

Toby paused for a minute. He knew that a warm house would be a much more pleasant alternative to the beach. Especially since he had no idea what the weather was going to be like this week. I guess your right bout the whole you need to find a place to stay thing, and no i havnt talked to the mayor. Probably because I have no idea who he is. The boy laughed to himself. Nowwhere might I find this elusive mayor?
