The young girl drove up in her chevy truck, why were her parents making her move? Valor wasn't a city girl, she grew up in a small town on the California-Oregon boarder, when her dads work brought her family to, well she really didn't give a crap what the town's name was, Valor was devistated.
Valor unloaded her horse, Eclipse, and rubbed her moon, "I know you hate new places don't you girl?" The owner cooed. As if to agree the horse shook her mane. Valor smiled and scratched the half moon again. She gave her half of an apple and allowed the horse to like her hand. Chevy, Valor's chocolate lab, sat in the bed, waiting to be told to jump out. The girl led the horse into an open stall, that was marked with her name, and decided to brush her down. She missed her friends back home, she was hoping to go back soon.
After Valor brushed the horse down, she decided to take her to the training arena, and ride her for a little bit. If Eclipse went more than three days with out being ridden she was hard to work with. The horse had already gone four days, just for moving. Valor swung on the mare, bare back, and she held onto the lead rope for a rein. She held some of the mane in one hand too. She trotted the horse around the arena, making her go slowly, and listen to her. Valor was enjoying riding, this was a bigger arena than she was use to.
Valor raced her horse around the arena, the horse happily kicked up her heals. Four a sixteen year old, Valor was an extremely good rider, and was a competitive rider for the Junior US Olympics, she did Barrel Racing, Hunter, and Cross Country trials.

Hunter was at home, listening to music and getting his room back to normal. His parents hadn’t done anything too crazy with his room while he was gone. Mostly, they’d just used it for a semi-storage space and had put in some stuff until he got to come back. Now, he was putting up his calendar and posters, filling the drawers on his desk and dressing, rearranging the furniture so it was just the way he like it to be. But he could only do so much in one day, or else he got bored with it and started to get frustrated.
Hunter decided to get out for a while, so he ran downstairs in his jeans and tee shirt, looking for something new to do. He hopped into his truck and started down the road, thinking of what he could do. He drove around a little bit, looking around the town, seeing what had changed and what was exactly the same. He noticed a sign for the farms and went to follow it. He noticed a truck he didn’t recognize as he parked his fire-red 2008 GMC truck and hopped out, looking around the place.
Hunter hadn’t been to this place in a long while; not since he was maybe twelve and taking private instruction. He’d ended up quitting riding for competition and almost gave it up all together. It wasn’t something he was especially passionate about or anything. He had kept up riding, though, in Arkansas. He’d helped out around a neighbor’s ranch as part of his job and he’d gotten to ride pretty much whenever he’d wanted to. He missed seeing the beautiful horses run back and forth.
Hunter headed to look around the place. When he reached the training arena, he saw a girl riding a gorgeous creature. She was good, too. Hunter didn’t think he recognized her. Maybe it was Meghan or Christina? No, how about Jenna or Kasey? Hunter really couldn’t tell. He stood and watched as she rode the horse, walking up to the gate and leaning against it.

Valor was riding for about thirty minutes when she saw some one, she got off of her horse, and walked up to the general area of where the man was standing. Sorry, are you needing the area? She asked. She some what had a southern accent, mostly just a California one though. Her horse nudged the back of her head and and the girl looked up to see the horse towering over her. Eclipse wasn't a small horse, she was really big, almost as tall as a morgan.
Valor felt rude for not introducing herself, I'm sorry, I should have introduced myself, my name is Valor, my family just moved here from California. She felt really shy around people she didn't know, and this person was really cute, so of course she was even more shy than normal. Valor just hoped she could talk with out stuttering. Eclipse shook her mane, and went to find some grass to nibble on since Valor wasn't paying any mind to her.
((Oh hey I saw that your looking for a "final" love for Hunter, maybe him and Valor can have a relationship??))

Hunter watched as the girl got of the horse and came toward him, smiling when he saw the horse follow after her. They must belong to each other, Hunter thought to himself. The girl reached him at the gate. “Oh, um, no,” Hunter said matter-of-factly. He hadn’t meant to interrupt her or anything. “Sorry if I made that impression. I didn’t mean for you to stop or anything.” Hunter started to feel sort of bad about the girl having to get off her horse just for a lost cause.
Hunter smiled at her when she introduced herself. “Hunter,” he gave a slight nod and then continued, “It’s nice to meet you. So, California; what’s that like?” Hunter asked the girl, not wanting her to go away soon. He wanted to get to know her. If he was lucky, she hadn’t met anyone else yet; or, at least no one that knew he was back and would warn her of his old ways; ways he’d hoped he’d left in his past. Too bad our pasts never leave us alone; they always seem to find their way back to us, don’t they? Hunter hoped this would be a clean slate; his first since he’d returned to Serenade.

((I replied back )) Valor smiled, he was willing to start up a conversation with her, that was a shock for her. "Yeah, it's pretty cool there. My dad was renting a ranch right outside of Malibu. But the Air Force sent my dad here, and me and Eclipse were forced to come, I've only been in Serenade for about-" She looked at her phone for the time, "Three hours. We rolled in here at about four am." She said, with a smile. Eclipse nodded her head as if to agree with what her rider was saying. She looked at Hunter and nuzzled him, "Sorry, she's still learning manners," She said, shooing the horse away.

Hunter smiled at her. ”That’s so neat. I’d love to go to California one day. I’ve only been on the east side of the U.S.” Hunter looked at her, trying to learn whatever he could from her looks. So far, not much came to mind. But she had to be somewhat good, considering she acted like she liked animals. That was definitely a plus in Hunter’s book. He raised his eyebrows. “Wow, you really haven’t been here long then, have you?” In his mind, Hunter was sending up a silent prayer that there was a ninety-nine percent chance she hadn’t met anyone else, and even if she had, they probably hadn’t told her about him. “So, have you met anyone else here?” He asked, nonchalantly. He chuckled at the horse. “Oh, she fine. In fact, she’s beautiful. Why’d you name her Eclipse?” Hunter asked curiously.

Valor smiled, and said "I lived in New York for like two years. Eclipse hated the city part though." She shook her head no, to havent being here long. "Actually you are the first person that I have met. Congrates your my new BFF." She said, teasingly. Valor smiled at the compliment about her horse, "She has a moon on her forhead, its the only part on her that isn't a glossy black." She said, with a smile. She brushed the horses mane back and showed the crescent moon to him. Eclipse took this as a perfect time to take Valor's hat, and run off with it. Valor smiled and allowed the horse to have her fun.

Hunter smiled and gave a little laugh, “Yeah, I’ll bet. I’ve always seen horses the happiest out in the country where they can run around,” he said, thinking of the animals back in Arkansas he was blessed to spend time with. Hunter lifted his eyebrows and breathed a sigh of relief on the inside. “Well, I hope I don’t give a bad impression of our town, and all right, I think that can work out, so long as you don't mind.” Hunter shot her a bright smile, going along with her remark. “Oh, wow, I hadn’t noticed it before.” Hunter looked at the horse’s mark, it was really interesting how things like that happened. Hunter laughed as he watched the horse take her hat and go off. “You seem to have quite the comedian there, don’t you?” Hunter asked her. He kept chuckling at the horse’s actions.

Valor smiled as she and Hunter talked getting to know each other, "yeah she loves the open space, after being in New York for a while my dad got stationed back in California, then here. They are talking about sending him to Afganastan next month. He just got back four months ago, so I guess, I just got to sit back and see what happens. I haven't told any of my closest friends yet." She said, some how finding herself opening up to him. She never opened up to some one so fast. She held her arm and looked down. When they talked about Eclipse she wasn't so gloomy. She showed him a picture of the mare wearing the hat and smiled, then her dad pulled up in his Chevy pick up with Valor's chocolate lab puppy, Chevy "Hi daddy." She introduced her dad to Hunter.
"Nice to meet you Hunter, I am Luke." The man said. He was in his Army shirt, and PT shorts. "Well I was about to go to Breakfast, would you two like to come?" Valor looked at Hunter "You should come, they have good food on the barracks, well usually, and maybe afterwards we can play video games or something, I have a Xbox 360 PS3 and a WII. Plus if your into music I have a lot of instraments and stuff." She hoped she didn't seem desperate but she didn't want to go there alone. It was just her and her dad, her mom wasn't cut out for this life, but knew she couldn't provide much better of a stable life for Valor, so Valor moved in with her dad. She didn't regret it at all though she loved her dad, and wouldn't trade her life for nothing.

Hunter listened as Valor talked, telling him about her horse Eclipse and her old life before Serenade; the places she’d lived; the things she and her dad were going through. He didn’t have any immediate family in the army, but he’d had friends who had, and he had a second cousin who’s stepdad was, so he did his best to imagine what she might be going through; trying to be as sympathetic and empathetic as possible. Hunter nodded and listening intently, wanting be a good listening ear and catch every word she said. He was surprised she was telling him all this, especially after she said she hadn’t told any of her closest friends. “Well, now,” he started, “since I’m the first native here you’ve met, I’d say I’m probably your closest Serenade friend.” Hunter chuckled a little, hoping for a smile. “But, that’s got to be a lot to deal with, I’m guessing.” Hunter looked at her and gave a small, gentle smile. “What’ll happen if he does go back?”
Hunter looked at the picture of Eclipse and smiled and laughed, “Very nice!” He turned as he heard someone coming up behind him. As he Valor introduced him to her father, he smiled and held out his hand for a shake. “It’s nice to meet you, too, sir.” Hunter listened to Mr. – well, actually, he didn’t know their last name – and Valor. It sounded like maybe she wanted a friend. He knew what it was like to be the new kid from he was back in Arkansas. “You know what? I’d love to come, it sounds great.” Hunter smiled at the pair, ready to go and have a relaxing and fun time with his new friend. “Let me just call my parents to let them know where I’ll be, if that’s all right?” Hunter pulled out his cell phone. His parents knew he’d be out for the day, but his mom always worried if she couldn’t find him, and he knew she’d appreciate the thought, as would his dad.

Valor smiled a little and said "My dad said that he thought it would be best for me to be out here while he's away. I am legally old enough to be on my own, and he gives me money every week for horse feed, and dog food, and the military pays for food and housing. I have been able to prove I can handle my own while he's gone." She smiled as Hunter said yes to coming and soon after the young male called his parents they were on their way to the barracks, "So Hunter, tell me about yourself, and you don't have to call me sir I work for a living. You can call me Luke just fine." he said.
When they made it to the dinning hall Valor grabbed a tray and said "Fair warning don't order the eggs. They are MRE eggs, and they suck, one time we were in Germany and most of the MREs were eggs." She said from experience. The girl ordered biscuts and gravy. Her dad wasn't really one to cook so either Valor did or they ate at the mess hall. Valor smiled politely as her dad's over seeing officer came up. "Sargeant May, we just got comfirmation depart is 0400 Sunday morning. Hello Valor, who is this?" The Lt. asked. "Lt. Baskin this is my friend Hunter, Hunter this is my dad's supior officer, Lt. Baskin. She was hiding the fear and worry in her voice but her dad saw right through it. Sunday was only a couple days away.

Hunter nodded as he listened to Valor, glad she wouldn’t have to leave if her dad was sent away from Serenade; this was the first person who didn’t know about his past entanglements, if you want to call it that, exactly. “Well, then, I have to tell you I would be glad you wouldn’t have to leave. But, you know, if that does happen, you can always just call me,” Hunter put on a deep voice, “I’ll be your protector,” Hunter held up his arms as if to flex his little muscles on his arms. He couldn’t hold it out for long though because he started to laugh.
Hunter called his parents and let them know just what exactly he was up to. His mom was a very trusting person, and she was glad to hear he wasn’t out partying again or back to his old ways, but meeting new people and doing legal things. After he hung up and joined the other two, he smiled at both of them, glad for new friends. “All right, sir- err- Luke, sorry,” Hunter could feel his cheeks get just a hint of pink. “Well, I’ve lived here in Serenade almost my entire life, except for the past couple of years.” Hunter didn’t know what all to say about himself, so he went on to the basic profile. “Umm, I’m seventeen, a junior at Serenade High School, and my parents co-own Serenade Sunshine School.” Hunter shrugged his shoulders, “that’s the basics, pretty much, I guess.”
Hunter followed the two to the dinning hall for something to fill his stomach; he was starting to feel just a tad bit hungry. Hunter did as Valor had and grabbed a tray. Hunter chuckled, “Well, all right, then, thanks for the warning.” Hunter was surprised he even remembered what MRE was, but he’d been a part of a special after-school program that was a lot like boy scouts, only it was co-ed and they talked a lot about different ways of survival as well as jobs like going into the marines, navy, etc, and he had remembered having to live on them for a week straight as part of an exercise. Hunter again followed Valor’s example and ordered biscuits and gravy. Being in new territory, he wanted to be on the safe side, and he trusted Valor’s decision.
Hunter was getting his food he had ordered when he heard someone talk about departure. He turned to see Valor & her dad talking to someone. He smiled at the man when he had asked about him. Hunter held out his right hand as Valor introduced him to Luke’s superior officer. “It’s nice to meet you, sir.” Hunter was thinking the back of his mind about what Lieutenant Baskin had said about departure, and it hit him what it meant. It meant that Valor would definitely be staying in Serenade, by herself. Hunter wasn’t sure how Valor would take this, after all, he didn’t know her very well since they’d just met, but at the same time, he felt like he wanted to just go and give her a hug.

Valor couldn't help but to laugh at Hunter, she shook her head and said, "Wow, I don't know how I managed to survive before with out such a big strong guy like you to protect me." She teased lightly. But it did make her feel special that he was willing to try and make her laugh about something.
Luke looked at Valor, and put his hand on her shoulder, and didn't say much as they ate. He knew that Valor wasn't going to be in trouble here. That was the whole point in moving, so that Valor could have a stable town to be in, and he could make sure, well some what make sure, that all went well for her.
The silence was killing the girl, she hated it. To her silence with people around was worse than not having anyone around. "So, whats your favorite game to play? I have a world cup game, all the Call Of Dutys, Ghost Recon, and a few others at home." She said, just trying to say something to break the silence, anything was going to be good enough for her at this point.

Hunter was still laughing as Valor spoke. He stopped to listen, though, wanting to catch every word. He was trying to be so much more of a better person than he was before he left. Being back home had made it hard to keep the good habits he’d created back in Arkansas, but he was really trying, and being a better friend and person included being a better listener, so he was working on that. ”I have no idea,” he joked, ”but aren’t you glad I’m here now?” he teased her.
Hunter followed them to go sit down, watching as Luke’s fraternal concern as a father emerged. He wasn’t saying anything out loud, but Hunter already knew, even after just meeting him, that he was one of those good fathers. You know, the type that really, truly, and honestly cared about their kids, or in this case, their daughter. Hunter could see that maybe Luke was just doing what he thought, and probably knew, what was best for Valor. Hunter hoped he could at least help Valor and be a comforting shoulder and friend through all the craziness.
Hunter listened as Valor seemed to change the subject. He was happy to oblige with the distraction of her question. ”Oh, I love Call Of Duty. That’s a really good one. What game console do you have?” Hunter had loved to play video games a kid. He’d slowly let go of the fun when he’d gotten into the party scene. Sure, he’d kept up with his playing some, but not as much as other guys who weren’t partying all night like he usually was. But he’d found a great number of guys his age who enjoyed video games back in Arkansas and had gotten back into the games. He currently had the old consoles like Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Play Station, Play Station 2, and xBox, as well as the newer versions like Play Station 3, xBox 360, and Wii. He’d kept the old consoles because he genuinely still enjoyed a lot of the games he had; they were like memories of simpler times to him.

Valor liked it that Hunter was listening to her as she talked. She thought he was really sweet, and enjoyed hanging out with him. "I have a PS1 PS2 and a PS3 Nintendo 64 X Box, X box 360 elite, and a few others. I have a Sega," She chuckled. After everyone ate her dad drove them to their place. "Will you two be okay on your own for a while, I've got to go to the base." He said, taking his dog, and loading him up into his truck, Valor's puppy Chevy barked at the sight of a strange person, "Chevy hush." The girl said to the six month old puppy.
